I am so honored to join in this event supporting Family Preservation Project! One of the greatest honors of my life is my involvement with the Lullaby Project in which I help homeless and incarcerated families create lullabies for their children. On this evening, I am sharing one of my favorite songs for a mom that I worked with at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility who is now out in the world, and will get to be at the event!
The Family Preservation Project (FPP), particularly as run by the YWCA of Greater Portland at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, is an initiative designed to maintain and strengthen relationships between incarcerated mothers and their children. It offers trauma-informed services, including therapy, parenting education, and intensive case management to break intergenerational cycles of incarceration and trauma.
